Social Value at Austwick Media
Using our skills to give back to the community that welcomed us
At Austwick Media, giving back is at the heart of who we are. From the moment we arrived in Cumbria, we were welcomed with open arms by a community filled with passion, resilience, and generosity. As our business continues to grow, we believe it is only right that we use our skills to support the people and charities who make this region such a remarkable place to live and work.
For many charities, financial support only stretches so far. Awareness, visibility, and storytelling are just as essential and that is where we can make a meaningful difference. Through our photography and video production services, we help charities share their messages, celebrate the lives they impact, and reach the people who need them most.
Our social value commitment is simple. Each year, we dedicate our time and professional skills to support three local charities. This year, we proudly worked with two incredible organisations Goodlives West Cumbria and the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Both provide life-changing support within our region, and it has been a privilege to help showcase their work through impactful visuals that amplify their stories.
Next year, we are stepping up our efforts. We will be expanding our commitment to support three charities annually, continuing to use our cameras, creativity, and passion to help those making a real difference in our communities.
On this page, you will see the charities we support, the projects we have worked on, and the stories we have helped bring to life. Our goal is to shine a light on the incredible work being done across Cumbria because every charity deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
This is not just about photography and video. It is about gratitude. It is about community. It is about giving back to the place we are so proud to call home.
Together, through powerful visuals and shared purpose, we can help support the amazing organisations that uplift Cumbria every day.

BECBC Takes on the Via Ferrata Extreme at Honister
Extreme Challenge for Local Charity Always Another Way
What an incredible day at Honister Slate Mine as members of Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster took on the Via Ferrata Extreme challenge in support of local Cumbrian charity Always Another Way, helping raise awareness and funds for mental health across Cumbria.
It was fantastic to see so many people stepping outside their comfort zones and supporting such an important cause. A huge well done to everyone involved and to Lyn Cavaghan for bringing together such a brave and determined group.
Although I was there behind the camera this time documenting the day, I have to admit it looked like so much fun that I may have to give it a go next time myself.
Both Nikkie and Amelia joined me for the day, and we are very grateful to the fantastic team at Honister Slate Mine for allowing us access up the mountain so we could capture the challenge from above.
A brilliant event supporting a truly important cause.
Partnering with Hospice at Home West Cumbria
Capturing the Transformation of Their New Building Refurbishment
We are proud to be supporting Hospice at Home West Cumbria by documenting the refurbishment of Windermere House in Workington through professional video and photography.
Capturing each stage from early works through to completion, this project allows us to showcase not only the transformation of the building, but the vital role the charity plays in supporting people across West Cumbria.
We work with a number of charities across Cumbria, and social value plays a big role in Austwick Media. Supporting meaningful local projects like this is an important part of who we are, and we are honoured to help tell their story.
International Women's Day at St Bees
Showing our Support for Always Another Way
Some moments are worth capturing from a different perspective.
This short film was created at St Bees in Cumbria to document an inspiring International Women’s Day wild swim in Cumbria, where a group of incredibly brave women enjoyed a nice hot sauna, then gathered on the coastline for a refreshing sea swim, followed by a cake and a well-earned hot drink.
The event was organised by Ken Johnston of Forth Engineering, alongside BECBC and their Charity of the Year, Always Another Way. It was fantastic to see so many people come together at St Bees to support such a positive and uplifting event.
Although we only had around half an hour on site, flying the drone allowed us to capture the atmosphere, the swimmers, and the stunning coastline from above. It was a little blowy along the coast, but the drone behaved itself and helped us create this short film.
At Austwick Media, we strongly believe in supporting local charities and community initiatives wherever we can, and being able to capture moments like this is something we are incredibly proud to do.
Supporting Goodlives West Cumbria
Giving Our Time to Make a Real Difference to Wellbeing in Cumbria
This year, one of the charities we have been incredibly proud to support is Goodlives West Cumbria. Their mission to improve lives, build confidence, and create opportunities for people in our community resonated deeply with us, and we knew we wanted to help in a meaningful way. As a growing business, we were not in a position to offer financial support, but what we could give was our time, our creativity, and our skills. We created a dedicated promotional video for Goodlives, along with professional photographs that showcase the heart of their work and the positive impact they bring to West Cumbria. This video is more than just content. It is a powerful tool that Goodlives can use to raise awareness, connect with businesses, inspire volunteers, and help people understand the essential support they provide. By shining a spotlight on their services and story, we hope to open more doors for them and encourage others to get involved.
Supporting the Great North Air Ambulance Service
Donating our Time for a Worthwhile Cause
Another charity we have been honoured to support this year is the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS), proudly recognised as the BECBC Charity of the Year. Their life-saving work across the region is truly remarkable, and the dedication of their team inspired us to get involved in a meaningful way. While we were not in a position to offer financial support, we were able to use our photography and video production skills to help raise awareness of the incredible work they do. Earlier this year, we created a dedicated video for GNAAS at their charity golf day held at Brampton Golf Club. This event brought together supporters, businesses, and the wider community, and our role was to capture the atmosphere, the generosity, and the passion behind the day. The video we produced is a powerful tool that GNAAS can now use to highlight the importance of community fundraising, engage supporters, and showcase the impact these events have on keeping their aircraft in the sky. Through strong visual storytelling, we hope it will help them reach even more people and inspire the continued support they depend on. Supporting the Great North Air Ambulance Service has been a privilege. Their work saves countless lives, and we are proud to play a small part in helping share their story and the vital role they play across Cumbria and beyond.

"We engaged Brian to prepare a promotional video to showcase what we have to offer in our Carlisle Store. The end result was exactly what we were hoping to achieve so we really couldn't ask for any more.
From our initial enquiry right through to the completion Brian understood what we were looking for which made the process very easy. With a mixture of internal and external work in addition to some drone footage the output was an excellent standard and that was down to the level of detail and attention that Brian paid in making sure that the footage was just right.
I couldn't recommend Brian more and would be happy to speak to anyone thinking of working with him regarding our experience."
